Review
Hailing from Akron, Ohio, a city that in recent years has become a hotbed of sorts for rock music of all genres, Goodnight Wednesday first hit the scene of northeast Ohio in 2006, with hopes of sharing their unique and intricate brand of punk rock to the world beyond the borders of the Buckeye state. Having done that and more, and with a brand new record currently under way, the future is bright for the men in black. Merging the aggressive nature of acts such as A Wilhelm Scream and Rise Against, the theatrics of bands such as The Misfits and My Chemical Romance, and the rebellious nature of classic punk bands such as Bad Religion and NOFX, this modern punk quartet has taken a classic form of rock and made it their own, all while maintaining their pop sensibilities, often compared to the new material of Green Day, MxPx, and Sum 41. This edgy punk band is more than just meaningless theatrics however. Their intelligently written lyrics underline a deeper purpose that uses the energy and honesty of the punk rock scene to express a message of faith, hope, and love. Since it’s formation, GNW has toured all over the nation, from one ocean to the other, and everywhere in between. They have shared the stage with the likes of Seventh Day Slumber, Stellar Kart, Spoken, Decyfer Down, Joy Electric, John Reuben, Flatfoot 56, Kiros, The Great Transparency, White Collar Sideshow, Grave Robber, and many more. Goodnight Wednesday’s consistent touring has won them regular rotation on radio stations in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, Franklin, Indiana, and Nashville, Tennesee, as well as a dedicated fan base across the entire United States who refer to themselves as “The Army of the Living Dead.” Goodnight Wednesday completed their first self-titled EP in 2007, and have released thier debut full length concept album entitled “The American Nightmare” on May 18th of 2012, their debut release under Paper Mache Records. The future holds great things for Goodnight Wednesday, who are using their unique act to reach out to those seeking answers all over the world.
